Hi there! I’m Hailang Jiang [ˈhaɪ.lɑŋ d͡ʒɑŋ], a 3rd-year PhD student in Linguistics at Harvard University. I specialize in phonology; I’m also studying data science.
I use quantitative methods (corpus, laboratory, and computational) to study topics including phonotactics, morphophonology, lexicon, and productivity/learnability. I don’t focus on any specific language, but I’ve worked on Japanese, Mandarin, Finnish, and Kazakh, and more recently on Yine (‘Piro’). Any advice and comments on my projects are welcome.
Previously, I received my master’s in linguistics from University College London and my bachelor’s in economics from Peking University.
